Junior Golf

Country Club of Leawood's Junior Golf Program

In 2023 we had great success with our junior program. We saw great improvement from players in all of our levels from our youngest 3 to 7 year old Little Linksters to our Advanced Academy group! In 2024 we are looking forward to ramping that success up even more and continue to help more juniors fall in love with this incredible game! We have attached flyers for several of our clinics that will be offered throughout the year and members can start signing up for them now. Remember that last year we actually sold out several of our summer classes so the earlier you sign up the better!

In 2024 we will continue to stress the importance of the juniors getting out on the golf course as we feel it is a vital part of them improving their games. We will continue to vary the yardages our juniors play from short yardages (work on short game specifically) to longer yardages (covering the full game). The goal is to provide a great mixture of longer distances and still working on the shorter distances (25, 50, 100, etc.) to keep the kids into it and motivated to improve. As always we will end the season with two fun competitions for the juniors. The dates for those are listed below.

Parent – Child

Sunday, July 16th                              3:00 Shotgun

The format is Modified Chapman Alternate Shot. The golf event with golf cart and prizes is included in the junior golf fee for the 2023 season. We do split the field into the divisions they were in for junior golf (11+ Year Olds, 7-10 Year Olds and Little Linksters), and every team will play a full 9 holes. The buffet after the golf will be $15.

Junior Club Championship

Tuesday, August 12th                     Juniors will have assigned starting times after they complete clinic on this day

Juniors will play Individual Stroke Play and will be paired with other players within their age group. This event is included in the cost of the summer program. We will have divisions for 8 and younger, 9-10 and 11 and older (9-holes) and will split the boys and girls into different divisions. Our advanced juniors (18-holes) will have their championship during the Men’s and Ladies Club Championship (September 29th and 30th).

The flyers below will detail our available clinics. If you aren’t certain which one fits your junior best, I will gladly help get them in the proper clinic for them to excel!

Advanced Juniors Program (All Ages)
Spring Clinic (Ages 7-12)
Summer Junior Program (Ages 7-12)
Little Linksters (Ages 3-7)

CCL PGA Junior League

PGA Junior League Golf

PGA Junior League Golf is a very fun, low pressure event for our juniors. The idea behind this is to set up a team format that will be similar to what our youngest players use for other sports. As a part of the CCL PGA Junior League Team the players will receive a jersey with a number similar to other sports. I encourage you to check out the above website for more cool information about PGA Junior League and take a look at the website below featuring more information on what PGA Junior League is all about.

About PGA Junior League

Who is eligible? The PGA Junior League will be open to our players 13 and under.

What is the format? Each match will have 12 players playing. Those 12 players will split into four teams of three and each of them will play a 9-hole match against one of the teams from the other course. The 9-Hole match will be split into three 3-hole matches (each of these being worth one flag). The team with the most flags at the end of the matches is the winning team. During the matches, the players will play a scramble format.

When and where are the events? We will be in a league with Lake Quivira, Hallbrook and Blue Hills. We will play a home and away match with each team.

How do you get your junior into PGA Junior League? Contact the Golf Shop and let us know your junior would like to participate. The fees for the league will be $75 plus at least one session of the Advanced Academy. This will include playing in at least 4 of the matches as well as a weekly individual lesson and an on course practice ran by one of our Golf Professionals.
